Rishaug vs. Watz
Rishaug vs. Watz was an audiovisual collaboration in between 2007 - 2009. Sound and image were presented as equal. Ambient and textured soundscapes are matched with organic visuals that responses on the sound. The experience are cinematic, a slow evolution of colourful structures that appears, transforms and disappears.
They performed throughout Europe, Asia and in the United States. In 2009 they finished an permanent audiovisual installation as part of the new Union Brewery in Skien. In 2011 Marius Watz's generative art piece "Blocker" where bought by collector Peter C. Ruppert. Audio by Alexander Rishaug
Marius Watz works with visual abstraction through generative systems and parametric processes that are realized as pieces of software. His work is known for its bold colors and strong geometric composition. For live performance he creates visual software instruments that use the live sound signal as a parameter, mapping image to sound in a synaesthetic union. He performed live with artist such as Håkon Kornstad, Wibutee, Phonophani and SISU.
In 2005 he started Generator.x, a platform for generative art and design. Marius Watz's work are represented by [DAM]Berlin and LUMAs. He is currently based in New York.
